First Look Review: The Urkunet "Assassin" Razor

Right, listen up! I've had the brilliant opportunity to get a sneak peek at Urkunet's brand-spanking-new razor, and they've gone and called it The Assassin. Specs-wise, it's screaming quality and proper design: it's fully fashioned from 304 stainless steel, CNC machined throughout, and they've thrown in some laser engravings showing the gap specs on each plate. Proper serious kit, this.

Design & Build Quality: Spot-On Harmony

From the off, The Assassin stands out with its flawless finish and lines that are anything but boring. The design is the result of some seriously meticulous work: from the clean cut of the Cap and the detailed engineering on the plate, right down to the sophisticated, sharp look of the handle. I tried the "Fuxi" handle configuration, and honestly, the visual harmony is top-notch. Every bit fits together perfectly, making this razor a genuine design piece.

It's built for versatility, which is dead handy, thanks to the three available plates with a 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, and 2.5 mm GAP. Crucially, they all have a positive blade exposure of +0.10 mm. They're also rolling out three different handle designs, so you've got options, mate.

Performance: A Shave So Smooth It's Numbing

The Assassin is proof that Urkunet put some proper thought into the design. With the 2.0 mm and 1.5 mm plates I tried, the blade feel was minimal – never aggressive, even though the blade curve is quite shallow.

The most impressive bit is how the blade, once clamped between the Cap and plate, becomes rock-solid with the head, completely binning off any chance of blade chattering. This extreme stability gives you a shave that's almost anaesthetic—a massive amount of comfort that lets you perform any move you like, including those fancy against-the-grain passes, without any snagging or hesitation.

Plates Tested – My Two Cents

Plate (GAP) What It's Best For Efficacy and Comfort
2.00 mm (Mid-Range) A two or three-day beard, maybe more. Decisive and Deep. The GAP and exposure are substantial but they never feel over the top. It gives you a deep, clean sweep without any aggression.
1.50 mm More frequent use / a better feel. Effective and Deep like the 2.0 mm, but with a better feel and comfort on the skin, making for an easier shave on both a 24-hour stubble or something a bit longer.

With both setups, I did my usual three passes (with the grain, across, and against) and got a consistent BBS (Baby Butt Smooth) finish every single time. The overall comfort was remarkable, and I had zero irritation. The 1.5 mm plate is the one that suits my more frequent shaving schedule best.

Verdict: Quality You Can Bank On

The Urkunet "Assassin" has shown itself to be a top-quality razor. It blends an original, eye-catching design with genuinely exceptional versatility.

The two configurations I got to play with (1.5 mm and 2.0 mm) offer a surgical shave—it's firm but never dodgy—with no pulling or doubt. They mostly differ in how they feel on the skin, letting the wet shaver pick the perfect tool based on beard length and how often they shave. If you're after precision, comfort, and a high-end finish, this is a highly recommended buy, mate.
