Brand Story: The Journey of Craftsmanship
Hi, I’m Carry, 38. Reflecting on my career, the first decade after graduation was dedicated to mastering the craft in 4A advertising—a period of rigorous professional growth.
From Makeup Brushes to Precision Razors
When that chapter closed, I stepped into a new phase of life. Around 30, I ventured into trading, founded my own company, and later launched two makeup brush brands: OUMO MAKEUP BRUSH and URKUNET MAKEUP BRUSH. Our razor brand, Urkunet Razor, evolved from URKUNET MAKEUP BRUSH—just as OUMO Shaving Brush grew from OUMO MAKEUP BRUSH. Each new brand carries the legacy of its predecessor.
The Serendipity Behind "Urkunet"
The name came from a touch of serendipity. Years ago, while playing Mount & Blade: Warband, I was struck by the courage of an NPC character and kept his name in mind. When naming the brand, that memory resurfaced—infusing it with a story of resilience from day one.
The Spark of True Passion
Honestly, starting the trading company wasn’t pure passion initially. It stemmed from a traditional Chinese belief: "One should stand firm at thirty". But the real spark ignited when I created OUMO SHAVING BRUSH that same year.
From then on, I fell in love with wet shaving. Obsessively. I collected hundreds of shaving soaps and razors, determined to understand every nuance of this craft. That passion never faded; instead, it burns brighter—keeping me feeling alive and curious.
Leap into the Unknown
As the brush business matured, I turned my focus to razors. In 2021, a bold idea struck: “Why not create a razor that truly understands the user?”
From Photoshop Sketches to CNC Mastery
It was a leap into the unknown. Back then, I knew nothing about CNC machining—even design sketches were made in Photoshop. That’s how the first Assassin Prototype was born. Though rudimentary now, holding that sample thrilled me—I’d taken the first step.
But I soon realized outsourcing prototypes wasn’t sustainable. My philosophy? Never leave a product on paper. So I decided: We need our own workshop.
Building Our Technical Foundation
No hesitation. I brought a colleague from OUMO BRUSH, and we spent half a year in Beijing learning CNC. Real growth came from trial and error.
Northern Challenges, Southern Inspiration
In early 2022, I bought our first 850 CNC machine. In northern China, precision machining lags behind the south’s industrial hubs. We had to learn through manuals, online forums, and endless tweaking—often working late into the night.
The 2025 Breakthrough
By 2025, we finally dedicated ourselves fully to the Urkunet Razor. From May onward, we iterated daily: tweaking curves, refining details, testing ergonomics—even 0.1mm deviations meant starting over. By July, we finalized the prototype.
More Than a Razor
This multi-year odyssey gave us more than a razor. Today, we have an end-to-end workshop for design, programming, machining, and finishing. This self-reliance is our greatest wealth—a technical foundation empowering Urkunet’s future.
With gratitude,
Carry
